Course Description: This course explores the Biblical call of shepherds in the kingdom of God. Practical elements of this special assignment and the roles church leaders must play are examined. The course utilies PDF downloadable assignments, thought provoking questions, and 9 weeks of video lectures to assist the student in understanding the call. The students will also be asked to involve a mentor of their choice who will help walk them through the process of what it means to be a shepherd after God’s heart.

Course Requirements: 

The students are asked to work independently at their own pace. There are 9 weeks separated into 2 lessons each with thought questions at the conclusion of each week. The students are asked to submit a journal each week, and to utilize these journals to write a 2-3-page paper at the conclusion of the course.

Course Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Identify the role of a church leader.

2. Discuss what is required in the role.

3. Evaluate what methods to utilize in performing their duties as a servant leader.

4. Discuss the role feeding, protecting, gathering and other roles that will guide them in their ultimate goal as leaders in the church.

Upon Conclusion of the Course Students will:

·       Receive a Certificate of Completion, The Shepherd’s Call Journal, and the opportunity to continue education at Master’s International University of Divinity

·       Be able to communicate knowledge of what it means to be a true Christian leader.

·       Demonstrate aptitude in applying the practical skills learned in any church setting.

·       Demonstrate an understanding of ethical aspects of church leadership.

·       Demonstrate an understanding of the basic tools necessary for carrying out the duties of a servant leader in the church.

·       The syllabus serves as an outline of course requirements, policies, and assignments. Dr. Arrindell reserves the right to make changes to the course schedule and syllabus. Students will be notified of any such changes in a timely manner via email.
